Replacing a Discontinued Built-In Grill

A discontinued built-in grill does not necessarily mean the entire outdoor kitchen has to be rebuilt. The first step is documenting the existing appliance and opening, then comparing current models by actual installation requirements.

Identify the old grill

Look for a model label and photograph the grill, control panel and surrounding countertop. Even when the label is missing, dimensions and design details can help narrow the possibilities.

Compare more than advertised width

Use current cut sheets to compare cutout width, depth, height, lid clearance, ventilation, gas configuration and insulated-jacket requirements.

Exact fit vs. modification

If a direct replacement is unavailable, a compatible current model may work with appropriate changes to the opening. Any modification should still satisfy the new manufacturer’s installation instructions.
