Built-in grill dimensions are not universal. Two grills marketed at the same nominal width can require different countertop openings, depths, clearances and support.

Overall width vs. cutout width

The advertised grill size usually describes the appliance, not the exact opening required in your island. Use the manufacturer’s current cut sheet or installation manual for the exact model.

Dimensions to verify

Check cutout width, depth and height; countertop overhang; rear clearance; lid clearance; cabinet ventilation; gas and electrical access; and any insulated-jacket requirement.

Replacing an older or discontinued grill

An exact drop-in replacement may not exist. A different grill can sometimes work when the opening and installation requirements are compatible, or when the countertop/cabinet can be professionally modified.
